Tasmania produced one of its most impressive performances of the season, powering away from Sydney with a dominant third quarter to record a 30-point victory at Tramway Oval on Saturday afternoon.
In mild, slightly overcast conditions, the Devils controlled large portions of the contest and used a devastating burst after half-time to secure a 17.14 (116) to 12.14 (86) win.
Tasmania started strongly and took control early through efficient ball movement and forward pressure.
Goals to Lachy Hay, Harry Elmer and Jed Hagan helped establish an early advantage, while Sydney struggled to convert opportunities.
By quarter-time, the Devils led 4.1 (25) to 1.4 (10).
The Swans worked their way back into the contest during the second term.
Sydney added three goals for the quarter and reduced the margin through strong midfield work, while Tasmania battled some inaccuracy despite maintaining territorial control.
Jye Menzie and Jed Hagan both hit the scoreboard, helping the Devils take a 5.7 (37) to 4.8 (32) lead into half-time.
The match turned decisively during the third quarter.
Tasmania produced a stunning attacking display, piling on nine goals while keeping Sydney scoreless.
Jed Hagan, Jye Menzie and Harry Brereton spearheaded the onslaught as the Devils overwhelmed the Swans around the contest and repeatedly converted their dominance into scoreboard pressure.
By three-quarter time, Tasmania had blown the game open, leading 14.13 (97) to 4.8 (32).
Sydney responded with a flurry of goals in the final quarter and showed resilience despite the large deficit.
The Swans kicked eight final-term goals through a range of contributors, including Caiden Cleary, Jesse Dattoli and Angus Sheldrick.
However, Tasmania had built too great a lead, with the Devils continuing to find answers through Menzie, Hagan and Maddox Iverach to comfortably secure the four points.
Across the match, Tasmania’s superiority was reflected in the statistics.
The Devils recorded 374 disposals to Sydney’s 288, dominated the marking contest 121 to 58 and controlled the ruck through Cameron Owen and Aiden Begg, winning hit-outs 60 to 22.
Tasmania also held slight advantages in inside-50 entries and clearances, providing the platform for its attacking outburst.
Jed Hagan was outstanding in attack, finishing with five goals as a constant threat inside forward 50.
Jye Menzie added four goals and continued his strong season, while Harry Brereton contributed three majors in an influential performance.
Around the ground, Robbie Fox accumulated 32 disposals and 10 marks, while Bailey Boag was prolific with 27 disposals and nine clearances.
Zach Adams combined defensive reliability with scoreboard impact, finishing with 22 disposals, 12 marks and a goal.
Harry Elmer and Geordie Payne also made important contributions as Tasmania controlled much of the contest.
For Sydney, Caiden Cleary was among the better performers with 32 disposals, 10 clearances and two goals, while Sam Wicks and Angus Sheldrick worked hard around the stoppages.
The result highlighted Tasmania’s ability to take control of games through sustained pressure and efficient ball movement, with the third-quarter surge ultimately deciding the contest.
