Former Southport defender Emma Suckling will make her long-awaited VFLW debut alongside Clarence’s Heidi Preshaw this weekend.

Originally from Wagga Wagga, Suckling was part of the GWS Giants’ development squad before going on to represent the Murray Bushrangers in the Coates League during her junior career.

Capable of playing across the ground, Suckling has enjoyed plenty of success throughout her short career, featuring in three senior premierships across the past four seasons – one with Lavington and two with Southport.

Also set to make her VFLW debut this weekend, Preshaw is a fresh face to the Devils, having only joined the club earlier this week.

The 19-year-old has wasted no time making an impression on Georgia Walker, earning her opportunity after a standout season with Clarence.

The SFL’s leading disposal winner, Preshaw has been a driving force for Clarence throughout the season, also hitting the scoreboard with 13 goals.

Ellie Hall (ankle) and Georgia Nicholas (hamstring) will both miss Sunday’s encounter through injury.

Sunday’s match will now be played at the adjusted time of 9:05am at Deakin University, Geelong.
