Midfielder Angelica Clark has capped off a remarkable debut season by winning Tasmania’s inaugural VFLW Best & Fairest award.

Clark claimed the historic honour with 192 votes, narrowly finishing ahead of Perri King on 187 and leading goalkicker Ava Read on 183.

The 23-year-old immediately looked at home at VFLW level, establishing herself as an important part of Tasmania’s midfield throughout the club’s inaugural season.

Clark averaged 14.6 disposals, 5.3 clearances and 5.9 tackles per game, with her physicality, work rate and ability to break away from congestion making her a significant contributor in the middle of the ground.

Clark’s consistency across the campaign ultimately separated her from a tightly contested field, with just nine votes dividing the top three players at the conclusion of the count.

Perri King finished runner-up following an impressive season of her own, while Ava Read placed third to complement an outstanding year in front of goal.

Read was also recognised as Tasmania’s Leading Goalkicker after finishing the season with 21 goals from 14 appearances.

Grace White received the Stronger Together Award, which is presented to the player who best reflects the team’s values, as voted by the playing group.

Clark’s victory completes a memorable first season in the VFLW and sees her become the first player in club history to receive Tasmania’s VFLW Best & Fairest award.
