The Tasmania Devils have been forced to adjust routines this week ahead of their round 14 VFL clash with Brisbane, which has been scheduled in the unconventional time slot of 11:05am on Friday.

The Devils have been in superb form and will be aiming for their fourth consecutive win when they face the Lions at their training base, Brighton Homes Arena.

The shortened break following Sunday’s 36-point win over Sandringham has necessitated a lighter week of preparation, with northern-based squad members training in their region rather than travelling south for the usual Wednesday night session at Brighton.

It has also meant some flexibility has been required for those who are working or undertaking university studies.

“This week’s focus has just been getting recovery in and it is a pretty light week for us,” Devils’ inside midfielder Bailey Boag said.

“I think that is probably the best thing about the Devils so far, I think the whole community buys into it so employers are pretty happy to let you go and enjoy following it.

After a dominant stint with his local club Burnie in the NWFL, Boag has made a significant impact on return to the VFL with 21 possessions, three clearances and nine tackles against Richmond and 18 disposals, seven clearances and six tackles against Sandringham.

“I want to be playing at this level,” the four-time Baldock Medal winner said.

‘With the weather kind of changing and the grounds getting a bit heavier it has probably suited me a little bit more.

“From my point of view, it is just about being consistent and being someone that my teammates and coaches can trust to get the job done each week and I just enjoy doing the hard stuff, I guess."

The Tasmania Devils women’s team will be fuelled by the euphoria of their first ever VFLW win when they travel back to Melbourne for a clash with Collingwood on Saturday.

The Devils produced a commanding performance against Sandringham on Sunday, running out winners by 25-points at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

“The relief was huge to win and just to know that we can back our gameplan is so special and to know what we are building here can work and will work if we can maintain it,” Devils’ leader Georgia Nicholas said.

Collingwood presents a formidable challenge for Tasmania. The Magpies are on top of the ladder with five straight wins to start the season and a whopping percentage of 364.4.

“I think we’ve just got to go in with the same belief and confidence that we can do this now,” Nicholas said.

“Just [the opportunity] to hold that for four quarters against Collingwood – I’m excited.”

A dual VFLW premiership player with North Melbourne, Nicholas will achieve a special milestone on Saturday.

But she isn’t letting her 50th league appearance distract her from the greater objective.

“It’s just another milestone,” she said.

“I’m just looking for the win to be honest for the team so we will put that [milestone] to the side.”

The Devils’ VFLW match with Collingwood gets underway at Latrobe University in Bundoora at 9:05am.
