Tasmania have been handed a significant boost ahead of Saturday’s Qualifying Final against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, with Caleb Mitchell and Cameron Owen both confirmed to return.

Mitchell will make his long-awaited return after missing the past month with an ankle injury, having last featured for the Devils in their win over the Gold Coast Suns in early July.

The 22-year-old has been one of Tasmania’s standout performers in his first season with the Devils, averaging 20.1 disposals, four clearances and four tackles across his 14 games, while also hitting the scoreboard with eight goals.

Mitchell will be joined by former Sydney Swans teammate Cameron Owen, who also returns to the side after overcoming a low-grade adductor strain suffered during Tasmania’s win over Werribee at North Hobart Oval.

The 23-year-old ruckman’s return comes at a crucial time for Jeromey Webberley’s side, with fellow ruckman Aiden Begg ruled out for the remainder of the VFL season.

Patrick Walker has been omitted.
