Tasmania is well represented in the Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year squad, with three Devils selected in the 48-player squad.
Hugh Dixon, Jed Hagan and Jye Menzie have been recognised for their outstanding seasons ahead of the 2026 VFL and VFLW Awards next week.
Dixon enjoyed another impressive VFL campaign after returning home to Tasmania following a standout season with Southport in 2025.
The 27-year-old played all 18 home-and-away matches, kicking 32 goals while averaging 14.8 disposals, 2.6 contested marks and 1.8 goals per game.
His season also included an impressive five-goal performance in the Devils’ victory over Sandringham.
Dixon also represented Victoria against South Australia earlier this year alongside Jed Hagan.
Hagan featured in all 18 home-and-away matches and led the Devils’ goalkicking with 37 goals, highlighted by a five-goal haul against the Sydney Swans at Tramway Oval.
The West Australian averaged 13.7 disposals, 9.1 kicks and 2.1 goals per game during his debut VFL season.
Like Dixon, former Essendon forward Menzie returned home to Tasmania ahead of the Devils’ inaugural season.
Menzie produced an impressive campaign across his 17 matches, registering 29 goals while averaging 20.1 disposals, 13.4 kicks and 1.7 goals per game.
Players were required to feature in at least 11 home-and-away matches during the 2026 season to be eligible for selection.
The final 24-player Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year will be announced at the 2026 VFL and VFLW Awards on Monday, September 14.
