Tasmania Football Club can confirm that VFL Head Coach Jeromey Webberley will continue with the Club for the 2027 VFL season.

Webberley helped lead the Devils to a VFL Finals campaign and a top-four finish in their first season, and is excited to continue his career at the Devils.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my first year of coaching at the VFL level and had a great group of players who bought into what we are trying to build as a Club,” said Webberley.

“We are not satisfied with what we were able to achieve in 2026, and although it was a great return for our first year back in the competition, we hope to improve on what was a good first season.

“I am enjoying what the broader Club is building and look forward to spending more time with some of the experienced football people that will be joining us next season and beyond.”

The former Richmond player, who previously coached Clarence in the Tasmanian State League and led the Devils U18s Pathways side, helped build an environment that fostered success.

With a short runway into the start of the 2026 VFL season and a squad spread across Tasmania’s three regions, Webberley built a well-connected team in a very short period.

An exciting brand of football was a hallmark of Webberley’s side, with fans of the Devils enjoying the way they played as he led them to an 11–6 record when many predicted a tough first season.

Webberley will also play a key role in supporting Devils AFL Head Coach Ken Hinkley, Head of Development Nigel Lappin and Head of Academy Matthew Knights, with the VFL program set to welcome Devils AFL-listed talent in 2027.

Head of Operations for the Devils Aaron Pidgeon has enjoyed watching Webberley lead the VFL squad.

“Jez did an outstanding job bringing the group together across the state in a very short time,” said Pidgeon.

“The way the team played, and the way the players connected with each other and our fans, speaks to the environment he created.

“We’re delighted he’ll continue leading the VFL program as it grows.”

Webberley and the Devils’ VFL squad will return for pre-season later this year, as the Club continues to build towards its AFL and AFLW debuts in 2028.

VFL player signings and re-signings will be announced over the coming weeks via the Club’s website and social media channels.
