The Tasmania Devils will look to continue their unbeaten start to the VFL season on Good Friday, when they travel interstate for the first time to take on Frankston at Kinetic Stadium.

The Dolphins made it to a VFL Preliminary Final in 2025 and are coming off their first win of the season having beaten St Kilda by 8 points last round.

Key forward Hugh Dixon has been impressed by the Devils’ start to 2026.

“I think as a team we have played a really strong brand, particularly that defensive style of football, which was highlighted in that North Hobart game [against Coburg] with the number of tackles that we had,” he said.

“Port Melbourne had a different game style to Coburg, and I thought we handled that really well.

“The next piece for us is just managing the momentum shifts in games.”

The imposing presence of Dixon in Tasmania’s forward line is likely to have Frankston defenders on edge.

As a Southport Shark he preyed on the Dolphins kicking 22 goals in four games against them including eight in last year’s Preliminary Final.

“I don’t mind playing against Frankston,” the 27-year-old said.

“But I have never played Frankston at Frankston, only Southport’s home ground which is a lot larger.”

The Devils, who have recorded wins on the small confines of North Hobart Oval and the vast expanses of UTAS Stadium, will again have to adjust to a different shaped playing surface, with Kinetic Stadium unusually long and narrow.

While huge crowds have spurred Tasmania on in its opening two wins, Frankston will be a different proposition with the Dolphins’ supporters regarded as some of the most passionate in the competition.

“They are known very well around the league for that hostility and for their passion for their club and a Good Friday game will be a massive spectacle down there,” Dixon said.

“Hopefully we can get a few Devils fans there also.”

The Devils could be bolstered by the inclusion of club captain Robbie Fox, who has missed the opening rounds with a calf injury.

The ball up is at 2:05pm on Friday with all the action streamed live on 7Plus.
