Meghan Gaffney has re-signed with the Tasmania Devils for the 2027 VFLW season, setting her sights on a return to football after missing the entire 2026 campaign with a ruptured ACL.

Named co-captain ahead of Tasmania’s inaugural VFLW season, Gaffney suffered the injury in a marking contest during the third quarter of the club’s practice match against Carlton at IKON Park.

It was the third ACL rupture for the 23-year-old, who had only recently returned to football after injuring the ACL in her other knee while playing for GWS in the AFLW in 2025.

Gaffney stayed closely involved with Tasmania’s VFLW program off the field throughout the season and is now working towards her long-awaited Devils debut.

“I was so grateful to be able to help from the sidelines this year, but ultimately I would have loved to be out there having impact on the field,” Gaffney said.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to get back out on the track, representing the state, with the best group of girls.”

Her re-signing follows the recommitments of Angelica Clark and Grace White as senior coach Georgia Walker builds her squad for Tasmania’s second VFLW season.
